24 September 2016

Join us at the Rainbow Market on the 24th of September 2016 for a fun-filled Heritage Day for the whole family! The market, which is being organized by a group on 3rd year students from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), will take place at Holmeleigh Farm in Port Elizabeth this coming Saturday.

Gener8, as the students call themselves, is a group of final year public relations students who have teamed up with Homeleigh Farm to raise funds for Northwood Children's Hospice as part of their final year project.

Northwood Children's Hospice is a non-profit organisation in Port Elizabeth. Their team of dedicated professionals offer medical skills and palliative care to children with life-limiting diseases, as well as support and advice to the families and siblings of these precious children.

The new facilities will allow them to do even more for the children and their families by offering state of the art treatment options and a warm place of respite and care.

Tickets for the market are R10 at the gate and children under 12 get a free bowl of feed for the animals at Holmeleigh Farm. All proceeds will be donated to Northwood Children’s Hospice'

Urban Run 2016 lrgTHE URBAN RUN 2016

10 & 11 September 2017

The Urban Run, a charity fundraising event, SA’s ultimate Urban Run offering a fun charity obstacle race though the CBD which is focused less on speed and more on camaraderie and giving back is happening on the 10th & 11th September 2016.

Our Urban athletes come in all shapes, sizes, ages and speeds. All entrants are required to raise a minimum of R100 (over and above their entry fee) for the cause by spreading the word and seeking donations from colleague's, friends and family members in the build up to the event. Various levels of incentives have been designed to encourage participants to collect as much money as possible for the event charities - and will also determine the starting order for the event.

Entertainment over the weekend is sponsored by Caltex Eastern Cape Marketer which includes local magician Brendon Peel and funny man Gino Fabbri. This has got to be one of the MOST exciting routes to date in the Urban Run brought to you by Mandela Bay Development Agency  and fuelled by Caltex Eastern Cape. arrow back to top grey

UB40 cancelledUB40

Concert Cancelled

So once again fans in PE are left frustrated as event organisers, Big Concerts, made the announcement that UB40, the 11-member reggae super-group – scheduled for November 8 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, had been cancelled to accommodate an extra show in Cape Town on 6 November.

One questions why an event which was due on the 8th November in PE had to be cancelled to accommodate an event on the 6th November in Cape Town? Surely there would have been enough time for the group to get to PE for the event 2 days later! Or are we as fans partly to blame for being overlooked and not taken seriously enough? Although tickets were on sale from May 2016, very often we wait until the last moment to purchase tickets. Maybe the support wasn’t good enough, so not really worth their while – So now Port Elizabeth fans will have to travel all the way to Cape Town to hear UB40 in action. Seems such a shame!

Big Concerts said “If you have not yet collected your ticket, you will be automatically refunded within three to seven working days,”

“If you have collected your ticket, you need to go to a arrow back to top greyComputicket outlet for a full refund.”

Xmas in July 2016 04XMAS IN JULY 2016

Statement organising committee:

Last night the rural community of Hogsback started a small peaceful protest in the main road of the town due to the MEC Sonjo and Mayor Ntsangani's failure to deliver on a promised letter for commitment to service delivery and housing.

As the Hogsback community tourism organisation, we have decided to cancel this years Xmas in July festival to stand in solidarity with our neighbors, friends and colleges. As the Nkonkobe municipality is the sponsor of the event, it would be inappropriate for us to spend money on Xmas lights and not for bringing basic services to the village.

Unfortunatly the electric lines to Hogsback have been cut and we are not sure when it will be restored. We are advising festival goers and guests to please not come.

The situation in Hogsback is quiet this morning however the protesters are awaiting the MEC and Mayor's arrival. arrow back to top grey
